New importers over-launch. A workable first year with XBORUL is a few faces, locked PCDs, one hero finish each, sample MOQ 4, then reorder — not 40 SKUs on day one.
The first container is where brands either build a repeatable book or strand capital in slow sizes. XBORUL would rather launch a short, manufacturable assortment than 40 faces that never reorder. This is how we usually plan year one with importers and private-label teams.
Direct answer
Start with two or three faces, two diameters each, the PCDs you actually sell, and one hero finish per face. Sample at MOQ 4 per design. Reorder the winners. Do not launch beadlock, super single, 3-piece and chrome Tesla in the same first PO unless you already have those channels. Quote: Contact.
A sane year-one grid
| Slot | Typical start | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Hero street | 1-piece 19/20″, 5×112 or your top PCD | Repeats; photos work |
| Lip / stance | 2-piece one width | Different shopper, still one face |
| Trail or truck | Off-road or truck — pick one | Hardware and packing differ |
Platform focus beats “universal”: Fitment hub, BMW, Jeep, Toyota, Tesla, F-150.
What to delay until reorder
- Third finish on the same face — wait for sell-through. Finishes
- Every PCD in the warehouse — add CB/ET as related SKUs after the hero sells. 5×112 split
- 3-piece deep dish as the whole book — flagship only. Structures
Private label in year one
Lock cap and carton on the hero SKUs only. Extra cap colors can wait. OEM, branding note.
Cash and calendar
Sample ~15 business days on agreed programs, then a pilot batch, then FCL. Rail vs sea: FOB paths. Do not book a container on unsold faces “for the booth.”
Drawing literacy: read the drawing. Approval: sample checklist. Factory: Factory.
Worked example
A new Gulf importer wants 12 faces × 4 sizes × 3 finishes before the first show. That is 144 SKUs, 144 samples if you are strict, and a warehouse of chrome that will not move. We will push back: three faces, two sizes, one finish, the two PCDs they actually stock. After the show, add a second finish on the hero only. Cash stays in reorder, not in slow 21×13.
How this maps to XBORUL lines
- Street hero → 1-piece + one 5×112 or 6-lug table
- Photo lip → one 2-piece width
- Trail or truck → pick Jeep or F-150, not both in month one
- EV if that is the brand → Tesla-class as the hero, not an extra 8 SKUs
FAQ
What if my investor wants a full wall?
Fill the wall with one face in several finishes after they exist — or with showroom lighting on three SKUs. A wall of untested PCDs is not a catalog.
MOQ if I only want two faces?
Still often 4 pieces per design for sample. Bulk is separate.
Can OEM branding wait?
You can sample XBORUL-neutral caps, then swap private-label caps on reorder. Better: lock the cap on the hero. OEM.
